Cranston East holds traditional 3-on-3 basketball tournament

On Nov. 21, the freshman class at Cranston East hosted the fourth annual basketball tournament for student teams.

“We raised $250. Each team [10 in total] paid $15 to play and the cost to watch was $2 at the door,” said class advisor Andrea Dicicco, who has been running the event for four years. “The teams said they had a great time playing and they wished there were more after-school opportunities to play sports for fun. Next year we will have four-person teams, so that players can have a sub when they get too tired. Several teams played games back-to-back, because we set up double-elimination brackets.”

The winning team consisted of juniors James Murphy, Jessy Taveras and senior Nestor Dejesus.

The new CHSE champions played against last year’s alumni team and lost to Aaron Murphy, Dillan Foss and Zachery Loeum.
