The Artists’ Exchange and Gateways to Change, Inc. held their fourth annual Fall Out of Summer Arts Festival this past Sunday in Rolfe Square. Despite the heat and humidity, hundreds of people attended the daylong festival.

The festival featured live music and theater, artisans, art contests, food and more. Admission was free for kids 12 and under, with a regular admission of $1 to benefit Artists’ Exchange’s programs.

The was something for everyone including a “Doggie Show Off Contest,” in which participants entered their dogs into a variety of categories such as “Most Artsy,” “Best Dressed” or “Best Trick.”

Art activities include a Human Art Contest, in which participants use a variety of materials to dress themselves as a walking work of art, and a more traditional Street Art Contest. Festival attendees judged entries for both contests and winners received a free class in art, music or theater at Artists’ Exchange.

New this year, a Bananagrams station featured one of Rhode Island’s favorite word games, along with other Bananagrams spin-off games. Raffle items included an array of handmade craft items donated by participating festival artisans.
