The Rhode Island Association of School Committees (RIASC) recently recognized Anthony Melillo, Cranston School Committee member, for graduating from the Association’s Leadership Academy. Mr. Melillo received certification from the Rhode Island Board of Education at a special ceremony during RIASC’s Annual Meeting.
Anthony has served on the Cranston School Committee since January. His work on the school committee includes member of the Buildings Sub-Committee and Legislative Liaison.
RIASC commends Mr. Melillo for his commitment to ongoing professional development.
RIASC has held several professional development sessions. Session topics have included Roles and Responsibilities, Ethics, Open Meetings, Community Engagement, Media Relations, and Legislative Initiatives, and many more.
RIASC is dedicated to developing the effectiveness of Rhode Island school committee members in meeting their roles and responsibilities in promoting student achievement in safe and challenging learning environments, while playing a leading part in shaping and advocating public education policy at the local, state, and national levels. www.ri-asc.org
