By ALEX SPONSELLER The Rhode Island high school cross country state championships were held on Saturday and a handful of locals made some noise as they wrapped up the fall season. Here is a recap of the some of the action from the day: BOYS

Nicholas Cobb led Cranston East with an 82nd-place finish, followed by West’s Patrick McDonough in 85th. East’s Allen Kevorkian finished in 106th, followed by West’s Shawn Robbins in 107th and Joseph Gainor in 121st. West’s Will San Antonio placed 123rd while teammates Nicholas Perrotta took 127th and Cole Khanjari 131st.

“We had a great season, an awesome season. We did above and beyond what we were supposed to do, the kids did great. We lost two of our top five runners from last year and our top runner in Deem Quinn was injured, which was a bummer. We could have made the state meet as a team but we just couldn’t regroup once we lost him,” said East coach Bob Bouchard.

Bouchard added: “Nicholas Cobb led us and beat his time from last year by about 20 seconds which is great. Allen Kevorkian dropped two minutes from last year’s time which was a great improvement. Our top seven were great and it was good for them to be out there. Everything was pretty much normal, it got a little bit hectic down the stretch with the dual meet season and the class and state meet, the atmosphere was different, but we were happy that things went through and we were able to finish.”

Evan Reynolds led Bishop Hendricken with his second-place finish while teammate Ryan Dyer placed 10th overall. Hendricken’s Troy Silvestre wrapped up a 12th-place finish, followed by teammate Andrew Frezza in 18th and Dawson Reynolds in 22nd.

Hendricken’s Keegan Tierney finished 31st overall while teammate Evan McGregor took 40th. Pilgrim was led by Justin Doresy who finished 52nd, followed by teammate Ian Bubar in 98th. Aidan Spieler finished 115th for Pilgrim, followed by teammate Tyler Fuller at 116th.

Andrew St. Laurent led Toll Gate with a 125th-place finish, while Pilgrim’s James Salisbury, Greg Fontaine and Jordan Lopes took 132nd, 133rd, and 134th respectively.

Hendricken took second place for the second straight season as La Salle successfully defended its title. Pilgrim placed 16th as a unit while West took 17th. GIRLS

Courtney Rice paced West in 60th place, while East’s Stella Loezes took 64th. Zoe Catrambone took 73rd for the Bolts, while teammate Aislinn Baxter finished 93rd. Talia Petit placed 99th for West while East’s Madeline Baxter placed 115th.

West’s Alessandra Messina finished 123rd, followed by teammates Catherine Consiglio in 125th and Sofia Riccio in 130th. Estella Kue finished 133rd for West, followed by teammate Lauren Scavitto in 137th. Arianna Cunha took 139th for East while teammate Thamia Perez placed 142nd.

Emmanuelle Degos led Pilgrim with a 26th-place finish while Oce Lowe led Toll Gate at 56th. Pilgrim’s Amber Lopes finished 66th followed by teammate Annabelle Sisson in 104th. Cammille Remillard finished 120th for the Titans, followed by Pilgrim’s Ashley Hogan in 131st and Sakeena Khan in 134th. Emily Newton finished 14st for Pilgrim.
