Guest conductor Morihiko Nakahara, Music Director of the South Carolina Philharmonic, will be the guest conductor at the November 11th concert of the Rhode Island Philharmonic at the Vets.

American violinist Randall Goosby, First Prize winner of the 2018 Young Concert Artists National Auditions will play Korngold’s “Viol Concerto, op. 35, D major."

Also on the program will be the Philharmonic’s premiere of Gabrella Smith’s “Tumblebird Contrails," Britten’s “Peter Grimes: Four Sea Interludes, op. 33a," and Debussy’s beloved “La Mer."

There will be no open rehearsal concert or Rush Hour concert this month.

Last Friday’s Rush Hour concert featured pianist Jeremy Denk playing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.22, with English conductor Nicholas McGegan at the podium. The two outstanding and energetic musicians received standing ovations for their interpretations of Mozart and Mendelssohn’s “Symphony No.3.

Those who stayed afterwards for a brief conversation with the artists were treated to some interesting insights into the composers.

Executive Director David Beauchesne praised the orchestra for their professionalism and work, coming together after the pandemic.

The Philharmonic was playing to capacity and near-capacity audiences before the pandemic. Beauchesne urged audience members to help fill the empty seats by inviting their friends to join them for ensuing concerts.
