Cranston East Little League celebrated its annual Opening Day ceremony on Saturday at the Carberry fields. As always, the festivities began with a parade that concluded on the infield. New league co-presidents Andy Barron and Dave Graziano addressed the crowd, while the latter stepped up to sing the National Anthem to get things going.
Cranston Mayor Ken Hopkins was sure to make an appearance and also deliver an address to the players, with his message being, “If you swing and miss, swing again.” Tyler Barron and Ollie Reid had the honor of saying, “Play Ball!” while Mila Rosario got to toss the first pitch. Finally, the league announced that it would be dedicating its batting cages to longtime board member John Croke.
Games were played shortly after on each field, kicking off a new season of fun with hundreds of players and their families.
