By ALEX SPONSELLER The Cranston East girls tennis team took on Rogers last weekend and dropped a tough 4-3 decision.

Mina Grady wrapped up a 6-4, 6-3 singles win for the Lady Bolts while Maura Potter took home a 6-3, 6-4 victory. Isabella Ba and Sophia Tomaselli earned a doubles win in three sets by scores of 6-3, 1-6, 10-8.

Jianna Zambarano dropped a tough singles decision by scores 7-6, 2-6, 2-4 while Mathilda Corcoran fell 3-6, 2-6. Hannah Faria-Meade and Grace Cordeiro dropped their doubles match 2-6, 1-6, while teammates Clemma Prince and Avery Hart fell 0-6, 2-6.

“Even though the start of this season was a toss up, the girls never gave up hope. They showed their dedication and passion to the sport and their team,” said East coach Drew Hochman. “The team worked extremely hard to get ready for whatever the season looked like. Many have worked four years and have improved their game through hard work and dedication. As their coach, I am happy that the girls' efforts will not be wasted and be able to play their senior year.”
