The Cranston East boys tennis team has jumped out to a solid start this season with a 3-2 record.
After winning its first three matches, it has since dropped its past two meetings, most recently falling to North Smithfield 5-2. Adrian Rosales earned a singles win while Shou Jun Shi and James Fabiano took home a doubles win.
St. Ray’s dealt the Bolts their first loss of the season last week at Slater Park in a 4-3 decision. All three East doubles pairing took home wins, including Shi-Fabiano, Ansony Chavarria-Erioluwa Ogunde and Danny Song-Kyle Herman.
East would shut out its first three opponents to roll to 3-0 to start the spring. Rosales, Eston Fowler, Jason Barrera and Jackson Sigler all earned singles wins in the opener against Woonsocket while Shi-Fabiano, Chavarria-Ogunde and Song-Herman won doubles.
The Bolts then shut out Central 4-0, with Fowler, Rosales and Shi getting singles wins. Chavarria-Ogunde won their doubles matchup. East beat North Providence 6-0 the following match to improve to 3-0. Fowler, Barrera, Rosales and Shi all took home singles wins while Chavarria-Ogunde and Fabiano-Herman won their doubles matches.
