Edgar O. Jordan, 87, died Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Kent Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy L. (Howarth) Jordan with whom he celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 7, 2020.

Born in Cranston to Earl K. and Margaret (Benson) Jordan, he graduated from Cranston High School, Class of 1949, and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He lived his entire life in Cranston, including 27 years on Eldridge Street, moving to Warwick in 2014. For 45 years, Ed worked in the jewelry industry as a plater at Coro Manufacturing and later as a shipper for Danecraft, Inc. He retired in 1997. He was a member of Norwood Baptist Church, Warwick. For many years he belonged to People’s Baptist Church in Cranston where he served as an Usher and as a Deacon. He loved working in his tomato garden and always enjoyed going to the beach. Ed was a quiet guy and a true family man. For many years he would only drive a Buick.

In addition to his wife, Dorothy, he is survived by two daughters: Caroline Moniz (husband, the late Charles) and Judith Barr (wife, Christine). A devoted “Papa” to his grandchildren: Christine and Jason Moniz, he was known as “Pop-Pop” to his great grandchildren Railyn, Andrew & Tegan. He is survived also by several nieces & nephews. The second oldest of nine children, he was predeceased by his sisters: Ruth Proctor, Shirley Jordan, Lois Benoit & Muriel Hargraves and by his brothers: Earl, Stewart, Walter & Richard Jordan.

His funeral service will be at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, on Tuesday, August 4 at 10 a.m.. Calling hours will be on Monday, August 3 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and on Tuesday prior to the service from 9:00 – 10: 00 a.m. Burial, with military honors, will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Kindly omit flowers.
