The Cranston West baseball team fell to top-seeded North Kingstown 2-1 on the road in the Division I Quarterfinals last week to end its season.
Starting pitcher Demetrius Sampalis had a solid day on the mound for West, pitching six innings and allowing just two runs on two hits and recording a strikeout. Cole Carbone led West at the plate going 3-for-3 with an RBI.
The Falcons shut out visiting Central 6-0 in the preliminary round. Luciano Leone got the win on the mound, pitching six innings and allowing no runs on just three hits while striking out three batters. Jake Snowling pitched an inning in relief and recorded a strikeout of his own.
Carbone led the Falcons at the plate in the win, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Chris Piscione added a pair of RBI as well. Anthony DeCotis and Edwin Silverio also knocked in runs in the win.
West finished the season with a league record of 11-7.
