Fans Only Sportz wins city streaming bid

Local sports streaming company Fans Only Sportz recently won the bid to live stream sports for Cranston East and West.

After winning the bid and fulfilling requirements such as the ability to provide commentary, run four crews simultaneously, among others, Fans Only Sportz will now be Cranston’s go-to streaming service for the next three years. The company has been streaming Cranston sports sporadically since 2018, but will now work with the city and the school committee contractually.

“Cranston is a great account for us, it’s prestigious and is the second largest city in the state. It’s got great sports and a great history of sports that we get to cover,” said Fans Only Sportz owner and President Ron Robert, who is a Cranston resident.

Fans Only Sportz has been growing its outreach over the past few years and is currently the streaming provider of entities such as Central and La Salle high school football, URI and Bryant Hockey, as well as HC RI of Warwick. The company staffs 30 employees and is looking to expand to 50 by winter.

The service provides viewers with a high-quality experience, as it is run by seasoned broadcasters with top of the line equipment and graphics.

“The professional level of our commentating, I feel like we have the best play-by-play commentators around working for us. We’re also completely mobile, our power source, Wi-Fi, we can go anywhere in the country. We have graphics packages, we can have advertisements. To call it live streaming would not do it justice, we are more like a full broadcast that you would see on TV,” said Robert.

Last weekend marked the start of the program’s partnership with Cranston and will be diving right in this fall season. To view these live streams, all fans have to do is visit their website at  www.fansonlysportz.com, and select the tab under the appropriate school.

Robert and his staff are thrilled to establish this partnership and to become a mainstay in one of Rhode Island’s best sports communities.

“We’re very excited to have the city of Cranston. I think it will be great for us to work with both schools and to give those athletes the exposure. They deserve it,” said Robert. “To officially be a part of the community, it’s a great feeling. I appreciate the school committee for getting behind us and giving us a chance.”
