To the Editor, Thank you for your recent coverage of the Kent County Water Authority, which I read with interest.
A couple of years ago KCWA installed a new meter on our residential line. Our bill jumped about five-fold during the next billing cycle, with no change in usage. My wife and I went to the Authority's office in West Warwick, where our protests were dismissed, with some hint of rudeness. Only after a few phone calls did we talk with a clerk who was willing to dig deeper, and found a significant billing error.
So I am not surprised at the possibility that there might be problems at KCWA with billing or other infrastructure issues. And there certainly is a problem with a culture whose first assumption is that the customer is wrong.
