An informal online poll for the Rhode Island 2nd Congressional District race conducted by Beacon Communications is closing at 11:59 p.m. Sunday night.
The poll asks survey takers to rank the 11 Democrats and Republicans running for the seat being vacated by Jim Langevin, ranking their preference of who should appear on the November ballot with (1) being the preferred candidate and so forth down the list.
At the time of publication there have been 470 responses.
On the Republican side, state Sen. Jessica de la Cruz has the most first place votes with 228 while former Cranston Mayor Allan Fung has 121. Former state Rep. Bob Lancia, who ran against Langevin in 2020 as a Republican, has 43 first place votes.
General Treasurer Seth Magaziner leads the Democratic side with 39 first place votes and leads the field with the most last place votes with 126. Other notables on the Democratic side includes former Langevin staffer with 24 first place votes and Providence Firefighter Cameron Moquin is in third with eight first place votes.
The plan is to conduct a follow-up online poll that will list the top two Republicans and top three Democrats.
The poll can be found online at www.warwickonline.com.
