Fusco announces School Committee re-election run

Posted

I would like to announce that I, Domenic F. Fusco Jr., the current School Committee representative for Ward 3 and current Vice Chair of the School Committee, going to run for re-election this November

My combined eight years of service on the committee has afforded me the opportunity to constantly advocate for the children of the great city. I am extremely proud of my record of service, advocacy and representation of not only Cranston Students but taxpayers as well.

I do have to admit, my biggest joy, next to visiting with the students, is watching Gladstone School rise to what will undoubtedly be the envy of every school district in Rhode Island. This was not always easy, but I continued to work alongside all parties involved to ensure this rebuild occurred. I also advocated hard this spring for the special bond vote which will help complete this project.

Through the years I have also spent countless hours helping our families with any questions or issues they may have been facing in their child’s journey through Cranston Schools. I have never turned away an inquiry or problem because the person was not in Ward 3. I will help everyone!!

I am a constant advocate for the ARTS. As a former band parent of Cranston East Marching Band and Cranston Combined Percussion Ensemble, I continue to assist with keeping music alive in Cranston.

Outside of the School Committee I am also a member of the executive board of the Rhode Island Association of School Committees. I advocated this past budget season to request the Rhode Island General Assembly correct the incorrect calculations that the governor proposed in his budget. That change could have cost Cranston $1.7 million. Thank you to our General Assembly leaders for listening to our School Committees and correcting this grossly incorrect calculation change.

I am also Board Chairperson of the Cranston Y, located in Ward 3. My goal is to keep this a safe place for all our members who wish a place to work out, a safe place for their children and to have their children learn how to swim.

Coming out of the pandemic has left school districts across the country with difficult decisions to make. While I will always advocate for our children, I will also make difficult decisions to balance our budget and ALWAYS do the best I can for the children of Cranston. I will never stop advocating for them!

While I might be a political person holding this position, I never have nor will I ever allow politics to play a role in any decision I make as a member of the Cranston School Committee. I have said it before and I hope my record speaks for itself, but I will say it again, ‘Politics do not have a place when comes to our children’s future.’ I promise to continue to live up to this.

I sincerely hope Ward 3 voters understand this message and vote properly for the person who truly has the children’s best interests in his heart!

Thank you for your trust in me and I hope to continue to earn that trust each day.
