Girl Scouts make new friends

Posted

On Thursday, March 2, four of the five scouts from Troop 134 in Cranston, ventured to Warwick to battle the residents at Tamarisk Assisted Living in a fierce but friendly game of Family Feud.

For the Scouts, it was a fun afternoon.

Hannah McNally, daughter of tri-leader, Rachel McNally, said "it was a lot of fun and they were very competitive and nice.”

And, she enjoyed the tour of the dining room and the kitchen after the game with one of the residents.

Several of the girls were newcomers to the Family Feud arena, but they quickly learned the game as their team took the lead in the first three rounds.

For most of the Scouts they have visited seniors in the past, but this visit was extra special.

"We had a blast playing Family Feud, and they were so generous with their extraordinary cake pops," said Hadley King.

The afternoon was enjoyed by the parents as well as the Scouts.

“It was a great experience for the girls The residents appreciated the company and youthful energy of the Troop, and it was an invaluable experience for the girls to see the residents’ vigor and to learn from their wisdom," said Melissa Lord, tri-leader.

Katie Furtado tri-leader, echoed the sentiments of the other adults.

“ The time we spent with our new friends was so much fun. My daughter said it was her favorite field trip so far and is already wondering when we can go back,".

As for the residents, they more enjoyed the visit with the Scouts than the game itself.

"I loved watching the girls play the game, and their excitement. It was such a joy to have laughter and smiles from such sweet visitors," said Beverly Tcath a resident of Tamarisk since November, 2022.

At the end of the afternoon, the Scouts took the lead from the residents and beat them five games to three.
