Senior high school students who won gold medals in the 2025 Rhode Island Academic Decathlon were presented with $500 scholarships from House Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi at a State House reception May 22. Fourteen students from 10 schools across the state received scholarship awards. They include Wesley Sanchez Toro of Cranston High School East, who won gold in Interview and is pictured here with Frank Lenox, RIAD executive director and state Rep. Justine Caldwell of East Greenwich, who made the presentation on behalf of Shekarchi.  Zachary Leone of Cranston High School West was also a recipient of a scholarship award for his gold medal in Music.
