Great views and a great crowd

Debbie Wood of We Be Jammin and organizer of Saturday’s arts and crafts, food trucks and entertainment event at Rocky Point was thrilled with the estimated turnout of 6,000. “Everybody has a fond memory of Rocky Point…that’s what this place is to be used for, bringing people together.”

Indeed, it brought many people together and a heavy stream of motorists bringing traffic to a halt on Palmer Avenue. Police opened an access road to an area formerly a community of cottages, Rocky Beach, which was part of the former amusement park property to provide additional parking to remedy the situation. Wood has lost track of how many events she’s planned over the years. The next one she has slated for Rocky Point is a September apple festival to “celebrate everything apple.” Guaranteed We Be Jammin will have a wide selection of apple jams and butters if not a lot more. But be sure, Wood is “the core” of the show.  (Warwick Beacon photos)
