Nicolle ‘Nikki’ M. (Howell) Greene, a longtime teacher for the City of Warwick, passed away the morning of Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the age of 52. She was the beloved wife and best friend of Jason W. Greene (Det. Sgt. WWPD) to whom she shared almost 23 years of marriage. Born in Johnstown, PA, she was the first of three children born to Josephine A. (Romano) Howell and the late Jude T. Howell.
Throughout her career, Nikki demonstrated an unwavering dedication to education and the well-being of her students. She began her professional journey in a Special Education classroom and after several years, transitioned into a traditional classroom setting. She ultimately found her niche as the leader of a Math Interventionist group, where she worked tirelessly to help students overcome challenges and find success in mathematics. She was awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math & Science Teaching which is the highest award a K-12 teacher can receive for excellence in teaching in the United States. She loved all of her students as if they were her own and was known to have snacks and assorted toiletries available to those students who may be in need.
She was sentimental and loved to soak in all the moments of making memories, whether it be a day spent on Roger Wheeler Beach with her family or a week in Disney World. Flowers brought her immense joy and she often came home from the grocery store with a bouquet of flowers that was not on the shopping list. She relished all the joys in life and saw the good in the world and more importantly, every individual she encountered.
Perhaps, her biggest accomplishment that she was most proud of was the title of ‘Mom’. She was her kids’ biggest fan and cheerleader whether it be on the sidelines of a soccer field or the finish line of a cross country meet. She was a champion of all of her family’s endeavors and loved nothing more than to see her husband and children achieve whatever they set out to accomplish.
Nikki was the devoted mother and biggest supporter of her two children, Emma R. Greene who is a rising Senior at URI and Jake T. Greene who is a rising sophomore at Florida Institute of Technology. She was the older sister of Jude T. Howell Jr., and William L. Howell. Nikki also leaves behind a large group of friends, colleagues and members of the community who will miss her presence profoundly.
Her Funeral will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 8:45am from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Joseph Church, 854 Providence St., West Warwick.
