The Warwick Continental American Greenwood Credit Union 12’s topped Slocum 3-0 to win the Majors championship.

Greenwood finished the season undefeated and played some of its best baseball down the stretch. Dilan Murray tossed a gem in the championship game, allowing just one hit in the shutout. Elijah Costello delivered at the plate in the bottom of the third when he hit a 2-run double with 2 outs. Teddy Mackowitz also drove in a run in the win.

Slocum’s Tyler Pires was strong on the mound as well, finishing the game with six strikeouts.

“To go undefeated through an entire season is a testament to the kids on this team. They refused to give up even when we were behind late in games,” said Greenwood manager Jim Louth.

Greenwood erased a 3-run deficit in the prior game against Slocum thanks to a big second inning in which it scored six runs. Miller McGuinness knocked in an RBI and finished with two hits, while Costello also finished with two hits. Cole Auclair and Charlie Mackowitz combined for nine strikeouts in the win.

Louth was proud to see the group’s development over the past few years, as they went from the bottom of the standings to league champs.

“The majority of our 12 year old’s have been playing together for the last few years. They started with only one win during their 10 year old season. To see them finish out their Little League (careers) on top was very rewarding,” said Louth.
