Helen C. (Wischnowsky) Ellison, 97, formerly of Eden Crest Drive, died Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at The Village at Waterman Lake in Greenville where she had resided for the past 5 years. She was the beloved wife of the late Edwin O. Ellison Jr., CFD Ret.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, a daughter of the late Herman and Helen (Wemmer) Wischnowsky, she had lived in Cranston for 92 years. Helen worked as the office manager for Drs. Bliss and Brown dental office for 18 years retiring in 1987. She previously worked for Samartino and Samartino as a bookkeeper. She was a member of Oak Lawn Community Baptist Church, Cranston, where she was a member of the Women's Union and could be found every May 1st cutting pies at The May Breakfast, into her late 80's. She was a member and past Matron of Providence Chapter #1 Order of the Eastern Star. Helen loved to make puzzles and play board and card games with her grandchildren. She was an avid crafter, often working with her mother to supply various church bazaars. She enjoyed holidays with family and dessert of any kind. She will be remembered as a little woman with lots of energy.

She is survived by her son James T. Ellison and his wife Julie A. Ellison of Johnston, her granddaughter Jamie E. Ellison and her grandson James R. Ellison. She was the sister of the late Barbara Rose, William, Herman, Harold and Richard Wischnowsky and the loving companion of the late Leland E. Andrew.

Due to the restrictions of the current health guidelines, her family will gather for a private church funeral service. Burial will follow in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
