July 20, Music on Main Stroll, on Thursday, July 20, starting at 5 p.m., East Greenwich Chamber of Commerce will hold its Monthly Stroll on Main Street, Main Street, East Greenwich.  This month is Music on the Main Stroll.  Local restaurants and retailers provide side-walk offerings.  Come join a great local gathering!

July 22, Come get your hot dog on! - Saturday, July 22, 2 p.m., at the Thirsty Beaver, 288 Atwood Avenue, Cranston, will hold its first ever Hot Dog Eating Contest: $10 per entrant. This is to raise awareness and funds for the 11th annual Hope for the Homeless Summer BBQ.  Do you have what it takes to become our first competitive eating champion? Also, remember to bring canned goods and other nonperishables as donations if you’d like to help provide food for the homeless and those in need.

Saturday, July 22 | 1:30 - 3:00 PM Making Autobiographical Comics with Jonathan Todd - Graphic memoirs are one of the most popular types of graphic novels. In this workshop, at Central Library 140 Sockanosset Cross Road, author Jonathan Todd will share his approach to creating them, and you'll have the opportunity to reflect upon personally meaningful moments in your life and think of precise ways to express these memories—and their significance—in comics form.

Jonathan's debut graphic novel Timid, coming Spring 2024 from Scholastic/Graphix, is about an African-American tween in the 1980s who must overcome shyness to discover the value of being part of a black community in a predominantly white middle school in a Boston suburb. And that’s in addition to learning to stand up to his peers and father in using his talent in cartooning for projects and a hopeful career. Space is limited, and registration is required. July 25, Tuesday 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. online program: Filling Our Hearts with Love Through Meditation –
Join Central Library, 140 Sockanosset Cross Road, and long time meditator Arvind Naik as he offers this engaging online workshop on how to use the practice of meditation to transform the heart. The workshop will include how to incorporate more love and peace in your life to transform your overall well-being. Learn how to let go of anger, fear, and worry in order to create more harmonious relationships, improve work and home environments, and experience a deep sense of personal contentment. The workshop will include a short meditation session.

  - The Cranston Historical Society is hosting an end of summer Tea with Tour program will on Thursday, Aug. 31, at 6:30 p.m., and invites you to enjoy a relaxing evening at the historic Governor Sprague Mansion, 1351 Cranston St., Cranston.  A brief introduction of the history of the Sprague Family and A&W Sprague Textile Manufacturing Co. will be shared. Weather permitting, an additional tour of the Sprague Carriage House may be available.  The Tour with Tea program is designed to be a small, intimate gathering and includes tea of the evening and a delightful sweet. Sept. 11, The Comedy Course - The Comedy Course is returning for a 6th year, every Monday night for 6-weeks. Three instructors, with over 100 years of combined stage experience, will guide you on a 6-week journey from writing your first joke to performing your debut comedy routine. You learn the do's and don’ts of standup comedy and have fun doing it.  The course is $200 per person.  The place: TBD.  Instructors include: Joe Hebert, Coleen Galvin and John Perrotta. Oct. 14, Annual  No More Hunger Walk - A walk to call attention to food insecurity and raise funds for local food pantries  will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14. Registration is at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m. Over $20,000 has been raised in the past two years. Every Thursday,  Get-a-Job-Thursdays - We Make RI, an organization that provides free manufacturing training, hosts a series of job fairs every Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon, 200 First Ave., Cranston. We Make RI offer job seekers a chance to meet with employers, get career counseling, resume help and more. Every Saturday, Pawtuxet Village Farmers Market -
The Pawtuxet Village Farmers Market, every Saturday, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., offers locally grown vegetables, eggs, fruit, meat, honey, cheese, baked goods, prepared foods, locally roasted coffee, and local packaged foods (kimchi, hot sauce, marinara, sauerkraut, seitan). The market features vegan and gluten-free options and local handmade goods. There will also be food trucks, live music, and occasional visits from community groups.

Amenity Aid – Volunteers Needed -
We are looking for volunteers that would like to help us plan and staff community events, organize hygiene product collection drives and raise funds for Amenity Aid.  Amenity Aid’s mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of vulnerable populations by creating access to essential hygiene products. Serving all of Rhode Island, we distribute toiletry necessities to those most vulnerable through our network of direct service agencies.

Visiting Nurse Home and Hospice (VNH&H) is asking for individuals to support their hospice programs by giving $20.00 or more to their Hearts for Hospice campaign.
