Waterman Elementary School, on June 2, from 5 – 8 p.m.,a there will be a farewell celebration at Waterman Elementaryz School, 722 Pontiac Ave, Cranston.  There will be a DJ, food trucks, photo booth and much more.  Come and enjoy the celebration and share the memories.  This event is open to the community.  Spread the word!

June 3, Free Car Seat Check & Touch a Truck Event On Saturday, June 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., South County Health will host a free car seat check and touch-a-truck event. Members of the South Kingstown Police Department, trained in Child Passenger Safety, will provide free car seat installation checks. This is a convenient opportunity for community members to ensure that they are using the right car seat, with the right installation, for their children’s ages and sizes. June 3, Live Bait, Artists’ Exchange, 50 Rolfe Square, Cranston, Doors open at 7 p.m., show at 7:30 p.m. “True Stories From Real People”, Rhode Island’s longest running adult story telling show for over 10 years. No scripts or notes, no rants or stand-up, just true stories told in six minutes or less. Audience participation encouraged; performers and non-performers are welcome or just watch an evening of funny, gut-wrenching, scary, enlightening, soul-baring, true stories!”  Continues every first Saturday of the month at this new location.

June 9, 10,  & 11, RIGMC Spring Concert Series The Rhode Island Gay Men’s Chorus is presenting their Spring Concert series, “Are We There Yet?” at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center, 2115 Broad St, Cranston on Friday and Saturday, June 9 & 10, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, June 11, at 3 p.m. This concert will take you on a “road trip” from New York to San Francisco!  So don’t worry about the price of gas, just fill your tank with music that only the RIGMC can provide!  Tickets are $25.00 for General Admission, $20 for Seniors, $15 for Students with ID and Children 12 and under Free. June 18, Annual Rochambeau Strawberry Biscuit Tea on June 18, from 6 – 8 p.m., The Cranston Historical Society will hold its 22nd Annual Rochambeau Strawberry biscuit Tea at the Joy Homestead to celebrate the 242nd Anniversary of the March to Victory of General Rochambeau.  Rochambeau led his French forces of King Louis XVI through Cranston, Scituate and Coventry on June 18, 1781, on his way to join General Washington to defeat the British at Yorktown.  Enjoy an evening of pleasantries and tea with homemade biscuits & strawberries. $5 donation. June 21, Firefly Walk Wednesday, June 21, 8:45 p.m. there will be a Firefly Walk. Meet at the lower Rhodes on the Pawtuxet parking lot, 60 Rhodes Place, Cranston, for a half hour walk at twilight to watch the fireflies. Wear long sleeves and pants. June 24, Strawberry Festival Smith’s Castle, 55 Richard Smith Drive, North Kingstown, invites the public to celebrate their annual Strawberry Festival on Saturday, June 24, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. This family friendly event will feature once again puppeteer Dan Butterworth, as well as pop singer Jesse Liam. Plenty of colonial games, activities, and crafts will be provided as well as pony rides for children. Vendors will be on-site, and they will be selling their famous strawberry shortcake as well as plants for the garden. A special exhibit will feature collections from the Narragansett Bay Quilt Association. October 14, Annual  No More Hunger Walk A walk to call attention to food insecurity and raise funds for local food pantries  will be held on Saturday, October 14. Registration is at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m. Over $20,000 has been raised in the past two years. Every Saturday, Pawtuxet Village Farmers Market The Pawtuxet Village Farmers Market, every Saturday, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., offers locally grown vegetables, eggs, fruit, meat, honey, cheese, baked goods, prepared foods, locally roasted coffee, and local packaged foods (kimchi, hot sauce, marinara, sauerkraut, seitan). The market features vegan and gluten-free options and local handmade goods. There will also be food trucks, live music, and occasional visits from community groups.

Amenity Aid – Volunteers Needed We are looking for volunteers that would like to help us plan and staff community events, organize hygiene product collection drives and raise funds for Amenity Aid.  Amenity Aid’s mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of vulnerable populations by creating access to essential hygiene products. Serving all of Rhode Island, we distribute toiletry necessities to those most vulnerable through our network of direct service agencies.
