Hulk Hogan hawks his Real American Beer at Christy’s Liquors

He’s a real American capitalist.

Hulk Hogan drew hundreds at each appearance across the Ocean State last week.

The line crept out into the parking lot and around the entire interior perimeter of Christy’s Liquors grocery outlet-sized shop on Oaklawn Avenue on Wednesday afternoon.

Hogan showed up late, but stayed late, posing for photos with men, women and more children than you’d usually find roaming the aisles of Christy’s Liquors.

“Following a successful market debut in July, Real American Beer, launched by WWE Hall of Fame wrestler and global icon Hulk Hogan, is returning to Rhode Island beginning Tuesday, Aug. 27,” declared the press release. “Hulk Hogan’s Summer of Real American Beer will make several stops in the state as part of its continued high-impact rollout.”

On Tuesday, Hulk planned to hit Haxton’s Tollgate Liquors, 1123 Bald Hill Road, Warwick; Heritage Liquors, 529 Reservoir Ave., Cranston; and Moonshine Alley, at 52 Pine St., Providence. On Wednesday, Aug. 28, he was slated to stop by Knights Liquor Warehouse, 1450 Hartford Ave., Johnston, Anthony’s Wine & Spirits, at 895 Tiogue Ave., Coventry; and Ocean Mist, at 895 Matunuck Beach Road in South Kingstown (in addition to Christy’s Liquors).

Hogan was in the flesh “celebrating Real American Beer’s presence in Rhode Island to beer lovers and Hulkamaniacs alike,” according to the beer company’s press release.

The liquor store had to cut off the line after it grew too long and unwieldly. At times, those waiting patiently in the que lost patience and started roaring chants for Hogan. They carried action figures, posters, facsimile championship belts and posters.

One fan dressed like Hollywood Hulk Hogan and flexed for a photo. One youngster ripped off his shirt.

Some parents carried a case of American Beer under one arm and a toddler under the other.
