The Santa Maria DiPrata Society will hold their 37th annual Feast “A Taste of Italy” during Labor Day weekend, from Friday, Sept. 1 to Sunday, Sept. 3, at the society headquarters, 29 Walnut Grove Ave., Cranston (across from Shore’s Market on Atwood Avenue). Shown here, society Chairman Anthony Rocchio and Treasurer Anthony Mastantuono, are trying to get the word out on this year’s events. According to member Louis J. Spremulli, “every year they get about 3,500 people,” and “all food (is) made by (the) society.” The group’s president is Ray Fanaro. The feast will include live entertainment each night, rides and games (including a special raffle, in which only 100 tickets will be sold). Nightly the feast will feature homemade doughboys, clam cakes, sausage and pepper sandwiches, eggplant and meatball sandwiches, polenta and Italian pasta dishes, hot dogs, hamburgers, tripe, a beer garden and fine Italian pastries. Specials will include snail salad and calamari, and other delicacies. At 6 p.m. the feast grounds open (on Friday, Satruday and Sunday)  and on Friday evening, “Ambrosiani” is scheduled to provide music from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 2, Ron Giorgio is scheduled to play for the crowd, for Our Blessed Mother will be held at noon, Sept. 3, at St. Rocco’s Church in Johnston.
