Sonia’s Market & Deli, a popular eatery on Park Avenue, is staying in the city, but will soon move to more spacious quarters on Atwood Avenue, according to an announcement it posted to its social media accounts last week.
The business, which offers traditional Armenian foods with an American twist, is known for its bountiful sandwiches and salads. It has occupied its location at 816 Park Ave. since 2011, but that is about to change.
“Our business is growing!! Can you believe it!? Pretty soon Sonia’s will be opening on ATWOOD AVE in Cranston!!,” the business states in what it billed as a “huge announcement” on Facebook and Instagram.
“We will have more important announcements and news coming about what else we are working on. But for now, we’re just so excited to share this excitement with you (and really excited to have more kitchen space) so stay tuned to see what we’re working on, and what we’re cooking up!!”
No one from the restaurant was available by press time to answer questions about the new location or details about the timing of the move.
According to the business’ website, it was started by the brother-and-sister team of Ara and Sevan Janigian in 2011.
“As a brother-sister team, our dream was to create more than just a deli in Cranston,” the restaurant states on its website. “It's about bringing to life the flavors of our Armenian heritage, blended with an American twist. Every dish we serve is a piece of our story, a celebration of culture and the joy of bringing fresh, delicious food to our community.”
Sonia’s, which also provides catering services, has built a faithful following and is always crowded at lunch and dinner, with parking spots hard to find.
