2020 was a rough year for everyone, but especially for small business owners and for those in the publishing world who are so dependent on their business for their survival. This is as true as ever for local, “hometown” papers like the Cranston Herald. Yet despite these unusual times, when everything seems upended, the team at this longtime weekly newspaper has been pressing forward, telling the stories of Cranston’s citizens and business owners.
One of the people who has been at the forefront of representing business owners, through thick and thin, is Janice York Torilli, the Herald’s longstanding sales consultant. She has been a dedicated member of the staff of Beacon Communications, the parent organization of Cranston Herald, for over thirty years. In that time, Jan has forged deep and lasting relationships with business owners throughout the city. Big or small, new or permanent fixtures on the landscape, she has given them a voice and a place to be seen and heard.
Even though we are beginning to see a light at the end of the “Covid tunnel”, there are still many of stories to be told, and many businesses struggling to remain open. Jan Torilli is standing at the ready, available to get your business on people’s minds for this time of cautious optimism.
Jan began her career at Beacon Communications in 1987 where she started in the paper’s Circulation Department. As the years passed by, Jan moved up in the ranks at the Beacon. She worked in Bookkeeping and then back to Circulation. She moved into selling advertisements for the Classified section until many years later when a position opened in the Sales office. Now, looking back, Janice can see how every decision, every hour of work, and every relationship nurtured prepared her for her job as a Sales Consultant for the Cranston Herald where she continues to devote her energy, expertise and talents.
Today, Jan continues to help advertisers throughout the city get the word out about their businesses. There are countless advertising options in the Herald, and plenty of special features that highlight seasonal events ~ even in the time of Covid, social distancing and virtual learning!
Jan can help you find the best way to stretch your advertising dollars, from small business-card size ads to full page ads. She is quick to remind advertisers about the paper’s “monthly feature” sections such as Real Estate, Prime Time, Lawn & Garden. There is always something going on, from St. Patrick’s Day and Easter to gardening and Gaspee Days ~ there is even a special cookbook feature. Let Janice Torilli show you the way! You can be confident that she will use all those years of sales experience to your advantage.
