Lily’s Soups and Scoops a splendid addition to Edgewood

Posted

Lily Scott stood proudly in from of her pink wall, where a menu of soups, coffees, grilled cheese sandwiches, Warwick Ice Cream and more will fill the space at 1850 Broad St. in Cranston.

Lily is familiar with the location. For the past six years she has used Keane’s kitchen to prepare her special label on Bone Broth for local grocery stores.

“My customers kept asking me to cook for them,” Lily said. ” So now that I have the space and the staff, I am taking my broth base, adding my own ingredients, and creating a variety of new, healthy, original soups.”

Keane’s BBQ has moved to Warwick Avenue in Warwick and Scott has taken over the lease, which will allow her to operate an attractive store, with an active, innovative test kitchen in the back, plus full online services. To check out Keane's website click here!

“I have two cooks, two cashiers, internet providers and a total of 14 people ready to serve you,” she said.

Lily has a background in the hotel and hospitality industry and a Master’s in education. Family and friends encouraged her to make the leap when space became available.

Fresh, hot soup based in Lily’s bone broth made from scratch was literally what the doctor ordered as I entered the attractive store, looking for something that I could tolerate after a bout with kidney stones and a complete loss of appetite. High in protein, flavorful, with loads of chicken and veggies, I was on the road to recovery.

Lily’s has a daily menu posted on its web site and at the store.

“The Creamy Tomato and Portuguese Kale have been our most popular ($9) but we’ll be experimenting in our kitchen and anticipate many surprises, including lasagna, cauliflower and green soup,” Lily said.

What goes with Soups? Why Scoops of course. Scoops of Rhode Island’s favorite ice cream : Warwick Ice Cream.

There are cones, pints ($6), and ½ gallons of ($12) of your favorites, plus many surprises, like Summer peach, Yawgoog Valley Smores, and Moonstone Beach Vanilla.

Don’t leave without a cup for your pup.

What else goes with soups?

Why, grilled cheese of course. Soup and sandwich cost $15.50.

What would a specialty gourmet shop be without coffees?

From Lily’s special blends ($2.99) to lattes and expressos ($6), she has them all.

The only thing missing for me were shakes, but Lily smiled when I mentioned them.

“We’re looking into that” she says, as the sky is the limit for Lily’s Soups and Scoops.

Lily’s is open Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5:00 p.m.

The phone number is 654-5350. Order online at Lily’ssoupsandscoops.com and your order will be delivered right to your door.
