The Rhode Island Volleyball Coaches Association recently unveiled its All-Division teams and a handful of locals made the cut.

Cranston East’s Jordan Bou was named to the Division I First Team, while fellow Thunderbolt Vincent Yin made the second team. Coach Jhamal Diggs was named the coach of the year.

Cranston West was also represented, as Chris Buonaccorsi was named to the Division I second team.

The Division I Coach of the Year award was recently renamed the Meg McGonagle Award, after the former East coach who passed away last year from health complications.

Diggs, who was a close friend of McGonagle, was honored to be the first to be given the award with the new name after he helped the Bolts make a surprise run to the semifinals.

“I’m not a guy that really looks too deeply into personal accolades, but this one was special,” Diggs said. “It was special because they renamed the award to the Meg McGonagle Award. It was also special because this was my first year, with a different group who has been through a lot. To make an impact, it was a confidence booster for myself and proved to myself that I can be one of the top coaches in the state.”
