Louis A. Caruolo, 75, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022 after a brave thirteen-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was the beloved husband of Veronica “Roni” Ferraro for over 30 years. She became his devoted caregiver, always known by Louie in the spite of the disease that ravaged his brain.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Louis A. Caruolo, who died when Louie was only 2 years old. His late mother, Palma Zoglio (Santagata), being left a young widow with children, subsequently married Albert Zoglio, his late stepfather.

Louie served six years in the RI National Guard Army Reserves during the Vietnam era. Louie’s working years were spent in the food industry, in both retail management and sales representative capacities.

Louie’s passion was cooking, especially anything Italian. He loved trips to New Hampshire’s White Mountains with his wife and others, going hiking, camping, canoeing, and seeing bald eagles and moose. He had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh and smile.

Besides his loving wife, Roni, Louie also leaves an “honorary sister” Lola Ferraro, who also gave tremendous love and support for many years, especially during Louie’s difficult disease journey. Louie is survived by two sons, Richard and Louis Caruolo, Jr; two grandchildren, Alyssa and Christopher; two half-sisters, Gale Reynolds and JoAnn Butler. Louie was also the brother of the late Anthony L. Caruolo.

Louie lives on through his brain and spinal cord donation to the RI Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias Brain Examination Program, aiding ongoing and future research efforts for improved treatments or a cure.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022 from 1-2pm with a Celebration of Life to follow immediately at 2pm at Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Rd, North Kingstown.
