“Phantom of the Opera” returned to PPAC for the third time.

Fred Sullivan Jr. and Stephen Thorne tore up the Trinity stage in Marie Jones’ “Stones in His Pockets” about an American film crew shooting a movie in a small Irish town.

Robert Duvall played Gen. Robert E. Lee in the four hour film, “Gods and Generals”.

Brown University Theatre presented Pirandello’s “Six Characters in Search of an Author”.

The Royalty of Doo-Wop were at PPAC, including Frankie Lyman’s Teenagers, The Belmonts, The Del Vikings, Bill Haley’s Comets, The Flamingos and The Poni-Tails, though many of the original singers were long gone.

World-famous mime, Marcel Marceau as at Rhode Island College.

Bob Collona was ‘colossal ‘as Willie Loman in Arthur Miller’ “Death of a Salesman” at Second Story Theatre.

Warwick businessman Donald Blais was terrific in the Community Players rendition of “The Fantastiks”.

I reviewed Horton’s Seafood in East Providence, one of the best seafood restaurants in Rhode Island that sadly closed their doors a few years ago. Joyce loved the scallop and shrimp plate for $10.99. I preferred the clams and scallops for $12.99. Fish and chips were $7.49

40 Years Ago

At the movies Matt Dillon starred in “The Outsiders”. “Bad Boys” starred Sean Penn.

Howard Johnson’s had their patented “Tendersweeet” fried clams, French fries and cole slaw for $3.95.

Warwick’s Lon Cerel was doing children’s parties. Now he’s doing adult parties.

Trinity did a great version of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” directed by Adrian Hall and starring Richard Kneeland, Peter Gerety and Richard Jenkins.

Frank Siniscalchi and Dave Jepson starred in “Murder at Howard Johnson’s” at  the Coachman in Tiverton.

The Vienna Choir Boys was at PPAC.

Remember The Helm on Route 2? Best marinated mushrooms in the state.

George Kent led the RI Philharmonic Pops.
