Market Basket has started hiring new employees to work at the Johnston location.

The supermarket chain has yet to announce an official opening date.

A trailer is on-site in the lower end of the market parking lot, at the location along Route 6A in Johnston, across from the Johnston Senior Center.

Applicants can fill out an application online, or bring completed applications to the trailer for an interview.

According to the Market Basket website, the company is accepting applications for numerous positions in various departments, including Front-End, Grocery, Dairy, Produce, Deli, Seafood, Meat, Market's Kitchen & Café, and the store’s Bakery.

“Be part of the first team at our new Market Basket location in Johnston, R.I.!” Declares the add on the store’s website. “To apply for the Johnston, RI Market Basket part-time position(s), please either download the application form and email us the completed form, or, email your contact information to Market Basket Rhode Island Hiring Team.”

The store was initially billed as the first Market Basket location in Rhode Island. However, after delays at the site, the store remained closed as another location opened in Warwick.

A store spokesman has failed to return several calls for comment regarding delays at the store.
