Melillo receives police union endorsement

Cranston Council Candidate Anthony Melillo today (June 9)) expressed his appreciation to the Cranston Police Union Local 301 of the International Brotherhood of Police Officers for their endorsement of his bid to be the next Ward 6 City Council Member

Melillo said “I am honored to receive the support of the men and women of the Cranston Police Department in my council campaign.”.

Michael Caramante, President of I.B.P.O. Local 301 announced the group’s endorsement and stated, “We are pleased to endorse Anthony Melillo as a friend and supporter of law enforcement.” “As a member of the school committee he has focused his energies on improving school safety and security”.  The union leader stated, “Anthony Melillo will help promote public safety on the City Council”.

Melillo expressed his appreciation to Caramante and his membership for their expressed confidence in his candidacy.  “I pledge to the residents of Ward 6 and all of Cranston that I will always support funding and programs that promote safe neighborhoods and the protection of life and property.” “As a council member, I will stand firmly with Mayor Kenneth J. Hopkins and with the brave men and women of our police department who risk their safety every day.”

Melillo said “I want to help our ward and residents to continue to build relationships with our police department and promote community policing efforts.”  He said that in the last few weeks residents have seen police heroes defending us in our neighborhoods.  “I am committed to make sure the police department has the resources to do their job.”

Melillo said “Our public safety personnel have earned well-deserved respect from Cranston residents when they handle routine matters or respond to various emergencies with professionalism and skill.”

“I am honored to support all our emergency personnel and outstanding front-line responders as they keep our streets safe for us to enjoy our community,” said Melillo.
