Mindfulness Meditation

Warwick Center for the Arts - Mindfulness Meditation - 1st & 3rd Monday in-person at WCFA; 2nd & 4th Monday virtual via zoom. The free sessions offer a westernized, secular version of Vipassana, also known as insight, open-hearted, and analytic meditation. The format of the hour practice is in the style preferred by Jon Kabat Zinn (creator of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine – University of Massachusetts Medical School) and other recognized and popular teachers (Jack Kornfield, Sharon Salzberg, Tara Brach, Joseph Goldstein, et al). Sessions often include guided breathing meditation, movement meditation, and loving-kindness meditation. From time-to-time, we use music meditation and almost always include a poem. The meditation exercises are guided. It’s a quiet hour. No experience needed. Participants sit in chairs or on a yoga mat/cushion.

Although the benefits of mindfulness on stress reduction are well-founded, the meditation practice also enhances resilience by strengthening the innate ability to cope and make wiser and kinder decisions – no matter the challenge or the opportunity of today or tomorrow.

Doors open at 6pm for questions and conversation. The 1st and 3rd Monday of each month, sessions are held in-person at Warwick Center for the Arts. On the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month, sessions are held via zoom. For more information, zoom link, or questions visit warwickcfa.org or send an email to meditateforwellbeing@gmail.com
