Music on the Hill's June festival postponed

Given projections for the COVID-19 pandemic, Music on the Hill’s chamber music festival scheduled for June 1-14, has been postponed until June 2021. The seven concerts and elementary school concert will move ahead 12 months, with a few adjustments.

Ticket buyers who ordered tickets for the June 2020 festival will receive tickets good for any future concert.

Ensemble musicians are eager to come and perform, when it is safe for all. If restrictions are lifted by the end of the summer, Music on the Hill will offer three special concerts: Aug. 30, Sept. 1 and Sept. 3, beginning with a Sunday lawn concert by Narragansett Brass Quintet. Planning to perform Sept. 1 and Sept. 3 – if permitted – are Joseph Kalichstein, Elisa Kohanski, Diana McVey, Anton Miller, Rita Porfiris, Trevor Handy, Gregory Cardi, Bonnie Anderson and John M. Pellegrino. Updates will be shared at MusicontheHillRI.org.

“The pandemic has devastated the performing arts, along with many sectors of the economy,” said John M. Pellegrino, artistic director. “As musicians all over the country isolate ourselves at home and face months of unemployment, we’ll truly miss playing together and serving our Rhode Island audiences this June. If we’re allowed to come to the Ocean State in late August, we’ll celebrate three concerts with our summer community. We hope we can begin to move forward safely, together, as the worldwide fight continues against COVID-19. Just thinking about performing live music is helping us to heal. Until we meet again in person, we hope to connect and inspire by sharing recorded performances at MusicontheHillRI.org/videos.”
