Narragansett Council Welcomes nearly 400 New Scouts on ‘Join Scouting Day’

Posted

376 youth have joined Scouting across Rhode Island, Southeastern Massachusetts, and Connecticut over the weekend following The Narragansett Council’s first ever ‘Join Scouting Day.’

The event was held at 60 sites across the region on Saturday, September 23rd. Sponsored by the Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America, it provided families with the opportunity to discover Scouting in their communities. Scouts and representatives from local Packs and Troops offered sign-up assistance and provided information on fun and exciting Scouting programs.

In addition to 376 new Scouts, an additional 200 contacted the Council for more information about Scouting programs. The Council reported especially high interest in the communities of Warwick, Cumberland, Newport, Middletown, and Acushnet.

Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA gives boys and girls the opportunity to explore nature, form new friendships, and acquire important life skills. Scouts learn to become responsible and confident while having fun in a safe environment.

“Join Scouting Day was the single largest recruiting day the Narragansett Council has held in years,” said Tim McCandless, Narr. Council Scout Executive and CEO. “We are thrilled to welcome these new Scouts and their families into Scouting and show them the amazing opportunities that await.”

Even though Join Scouting Day has passed, families can join anytime at www.BeAScout.org to begin their Scouting adventure.
