Thanks to the city Planning Commission for its work in reviewing the zoning request and not supporting the Caraway Drive zone change in Alpine Estates. Commission president Steve Frias pointed out the negative impact to city resources including traffic, school overcrowding and that the proposal didn’t protect and stabilize existing residential neighborhoods. That information combined with the passionate testimony of numerous neighbors led the commission to not recommend the zone change. The proposal was then denied by the City Council’s ordinance committee and was unanimously denied by the full council on March 24.
