New Eagle Scouts recognized

Troop 4 Gaspee Plateau celebrated two new Eagle Scouts, Aidan Shea and Justin Fowler, at their recent Court of Honor at St. Peter Church in Warwick. In attendance were Troop 4 Scouts, families, friends, Eagle Scouts from multiple troops and state Rep. Joseph McNamara, also an Eagle Scout.

Eagle rank is the highest rank in Scouting. One requirement of the rank is to identify, organize and lead a project that benefits a community group.

Shea's project involved building three benches for St. Peter School. The benches created more outdoor seating for students, faculty and families. It was a hands-on way to give back to a school that gives too much to others, according to him.

Fowler managed the construction of four wheelchair-accessible garden boxes for his project. The boxes were built and installed in a community garden at ReFocus Inc., which serves adults with special developmental and physical needs.
