Memory Café

The Memory Café is a monthly gathering of individuals with memory loss, their caregivers, and/or friends and family members in a safe environment. The program affords participants a chance to socialize and connect with available resources.

Italian classes at the Center

Exercising the brain … whether you are planning a trip to Italy or just want to have fun with a new language, here is your chance. Pre-registration is necessary. Call 780-6000.

Basic Italian:  Tuesdays beginning Sept. 14, 1 to 2 p.m. Six-week series. Cost: $30

Advanced Basic Italian 2:  Thursdays beginning Sept. 16, 1 to 2 p.m. Six-week series. Cost: $30

Ballroom Dancing

Tuesdays, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.Fee: $3

Welcome back! Learn new dances while enjoying the old ones.

Arthritis Exercise Class: A Program for Better Living

A low-impact physical activity that will help you keep joints flexible and muscles strong, sleep better, increase energy and improve your overall outlook. Space is limited. Call 780-6000 to register.

Fiber is one of the main reasons whole plant foods are good for us. Growing evidence shows that adequate fiber intake may benefit our digestion and reduce our risk for chronic disease. But how much fiber do we actually need to provide these benefits?

Two walking programs to choose from!

Arthritis Foundation ‘Walk With Ease’ Program

Need relief from arthritis pain or just want to be active? Come join our walking group. Three mornings a week we will walk the Cranston High School West walking track. You are not competing with anyone except yourself. You can walk for 10 minutes or an hour. Check-in is at 9 a.m. An orientation is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 9, at 10:30 a.m. at the center. To register call 780-6000.

Walk With Ease … with a Twist

You can participate in a self-directed “Walk With Ease”

program. You can walk alone or with a friend. The goal is to walk on 18 different days. You have until Oct. 22. You can walk wherever you are comfortable and for as long as you want. What matters is that you exercise by walking. To register, call 780-6000. We will send you additional information and a log that you will return when you have completed the program.
