(BPT) - Every 36 minutes a child in the United States is diagnosed with cancer. In fact, it’s the number one cause of death by disease in children in this country. With major treatment advances, more than 85% of children diagnosed with cancer survive five years or more. This is a huge improvement from the mid-1970s, when the 5-year survival rate was about 58%.
Since 1998, Hyundai Hope On Wheels has been a major contributor to the funding of childhood cancer research and program grants. This year’s donations are helping the nonprofit meet a major goal, surpassing $250 million donated over the organization’s lifetime.
