NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

    A Public Hearing on the following proposed Ordinance will be held before the Public Works Committee on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 6:30 p.m., Council Chambers, 869 Park Avenue, Cranston, R.I. pursuant to Section 3.12 of the Charter.

        “Individuals requesting interpreter services for the deaf or hard of hearing must notify the City Clerk’s Office at 461-1000 ext. 3197 seventy-two (72) hours in advance of the hearing date.”

PROPOSED ORDINANCE NO.

1-20-02 IN  AMENDMENT OF

CHAPTER.12 OF TITLE 12 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF

CRANSTON, 2005, ENTITLED “STREET AND SIDEWALK USE REGULATIONS” 

(Obstruction of Public Ways)

It is ordained by the City Council of the City of Cranston as follows:

    SECTION 1.   Chapter 12 of Title 12 of the Code of the City of Cranston, 2005, entitled “Street and Sidewalk Use Regulation” is hereby amended as follows:

12.12.100 - Obstruction of public ways.

No person shall place or cause to be placed on any city street or sidewalk any basketball hoop or anything whatsoever which would obstruct or interfere with snow removal operations, nor allow any of the same to remain more than two forty eight (48) hours after being notified by a police officer or the director of public works or their designee to remove it; except that nothing contained in this section shall be construed to prevent the use of the streets and sidewalks for construction or renovation upon obtaining permit as provided in Section 12.08.010 or for garbage placement and collection as provided in Section 8.12.120.  Nothing contained in this section shall be construed to prevent the use of any basketball hoop on any city street or sidewalk so long as it does not obstruct or interfere with snow removal operations, nor violate any other section of stated City Code.

    SECTION 2.  This Ordinance shall take effect upon its final adoption.
