Numbers don’t support open-air gun range

Posted

To the Editor,

I wish the Cranston Police Department’s Capt. Justin Dutra would have done his research before making his statement. If he did check the current information with the city zoning and read Brown University’s reported test in 2023 and again in 2024, he would have seen that when the schools across the street are in session, the area has a noise limit of 35-45 decibels; on the residential land that abuts the firing-range property the limit is 55 decibels year-round, and the range produces 82 decibels.

So maybe they will do more research and help the children, teachers and neighbors come to a fair and reasonable solution to this public health crisis.

Respectfully,
