Park View rights ship this winter

The Park View boys basketball team turned things around this season and is looking forward to a bright future as a feeder system to Cranston East.
After winning just one game last winter, Park View finished this year’s campaign with a 6-4 record and just missed the playoffs.
With a big eighth grade core and a commitment to building a new culture on and off the court, Park View enjoyed one of its better seasons in recent years.
“They only had one win last year but when I went into tryouts, I saw that they had talent. They’ve come a long way and became a basketball team,” said new Park View coach Tyler Ceseretti. “We’ve just tried to keep our structure, trying to keep the best practice structure and be a family.”
The new staff has also focused on the players taking things one play at a time and being mentally tough on a nightly basis.
“They’re really excited and we’ve been emphasizing that basketball is a fast game. You need to get to the next play, if you mess up, you need to turn it around the next play. We’ve been keeping that next play mentality,” said Ceseretti.
The team will have its work cut out for it next season as it is saying bye to eight players. However, five players are slated to return along with a new crop of sixth graders, and Ceseretti hopes to continue to build a long-term contender at the school.
“This (year’s turnaround) was important. We’ve had our bumps in the road but we’ve gotten to them as coaches. Giving them that structure has helped them and I’m excited about getting those five kids back next year and giving them a little more,” said Ceseretti.
The Park View roster included: Javian Mendes, Justin Ortega, Kobe Reth, Jayden Navarrette, Miles DosReis, Hunter Stys, Mason Riese, Nicholas Lora, Declan Croke, Mason Sena, Mason DeSouza-Saba, Alijah Martinez, Keanu Delgado Ramos and Devon Derry.
