The Pilgrim boys lacrosse team dropped a heartbreaking 8-7 decision to Burrillville in the Division III State Championship last weekend at
Cumberland High School. The Pats would jump out to an early 3-2 lead in the first quarter, but the Broncos would buckle down and regain the 6-5 advantage at the halftime break.
The two clubs traded blows in the second half as Burrillville led 8-7 in the final minute. Pilgrim continued to attack, but was unable to break through despite having late possession and the Broncos would hold on for the tite.
Peter Kay, Ethan Pezzullo and RJ Ryan all scored two goals for Pilgrim in the loss while Braxton Bragg added another. Kay and Ryan also added assists while Ryan Barlow also recorded one of his own.
Pilgrim goalie Jacob Brennan finished with three saves in net. Pilgrim finishes the spring with a 9-2 overall record.
