The Cranston Central Library was home to an event hosted by the Western Cranston Garden club that helped teach children learn the basics of gardening on June 20. Children were treated to a story before planting pink and white begonias along the front of the library.
The Garden Club, that provided the 20 begonias planted by the children, has hosted the event in the past with great success. Available for children age five to twelve, a little over a dozen attended.
Children’s librarian Elise Petrarca read “Miguel’s Community Garden” by JayNay Brown-Wood, about Miguel and his two dads visiting their community garden to find sunflow ers for a celebration, to the children to open the festivities before the children began planting. (Photos by Steve Popiel)
