Charlotte Lester still missing a year later
On May 16, Warwick Police reminded city residents of the one-year anniversary of Charlotte Lester’s disappearance.
Lester, 45, disappeared, from the Apponaug section of the city, according to Warwick Police.
“Charlotte was last seen on the evening of Monday, May 16, 2022, in the area of Staples Avenue,” Police posted on their Facebook page last week. “On Wednesday, May 18, 2022, Charlotte’s beloved dog, Chloe, was found abandoned in the area of Elmwood Avenue. Days later, Charlotte’s 2006 Toyota Tacoma was discovered in the parking lot of Kent Hospital, 455 Toll Gate Road, Warwick. Family and friends have not seen or heard from her since.”
Police are still trying to determine what happened to Lester.
“At this time, Charlotte’s disappearance is an active and on-going investigation,” police wrote. “While the Detective Division remains confident in their investigative efforts to this point, they are still asking for the community’s assistance in sharing Charlotte’s photo and encouraging anyone with credible information to come forward.”
If you, or someone you know, has information regarding the location of Charlotte Lester, or information related to her disappearance, contact the Warwick Police Department Detective Division at 401-468-4233.
SHOPLIFTING
Around 11:53 a.m., April 27, Warwick Police were called to Walmart at 840 Post Road to investigate a reported shoplifting.
On the scene, police spoke to loss prevention employees who stopped the suspect from leaving the store. Police identified the suspect as Daniel Aiden Costello, 18, of 3433 201st St., Bayside, New York.
Costello allegedly admitted to police: “I stole Pokémon cards.”
Loss prevention employees told police that Costello has been to the store several times, and that he allegedly “ticket switched,” stealing merchandise.
Police said that on April 27 Costello rang up the merchandise at a self-service terminal, but scanned the bar code of a “cheaper Pokémon pack of cars valued at $5.98, to scan a more expensive Pokémon Box Set valued at $44.98.
Police took Costello in custody, and say they found 10 more Pokémon packs in his “left shorts pocket.”
The total value of the allegedly stolen items was $87.38. Police charged Costello with Shoplifting and issued him a No Trespass violation from the store premises.
SUSPENDED LICENSE
Warwick Police on RIPTIDE DUI patrol imitated a traffic stop on Main Avenue around 11:30 p.m. on April 29.
Police identified the driver as Jalyssa R. Lazzareschi, 28, of 148 Orchard St., Cranston.
“I advised Lazzareschi that I observed her speed, her laned roadway violations, and her lack of active tail lamps,” Warwick Police Officer Sara L. Goes wrote in the arrest report. “Lazzareschi was polite and stated she was sorry.”
Police on the scene discovered Lazzareschi had a suspended license due to a previous Driving Under the Influence arrest. Lazzareschi was also required by the court (in Feburary) to hav-e an ignition interlock device installed in her vehicle, however, Lazzareschi told police the car she was driving belonged to a friend.
Since the vehicle had no “ignition interlock system device installed,” she was also charged with operating a motor vehicle without an ignition interlock system.
Lazzareschi also received traffic citations for Laned Roadway Violations and Tail Lamps Required.
