ASSAULT

At 2:52 a.m. on Aug. 7, Cranston Police arrested Martin Osorio, 43, of 2 Lowell St., Cranston, on charges of Domestic Simple Assault. The arrest was the result of a disturbance call at 594 Reservoir Ave. Osorio awaited arraignment.


DISORDERLY
CONDUCT

At 7:46 p.m. on Aug. 6, Cranston Police arrested Robert Swider, 55, of 111 Harris Ave., Apt. 1R, on charges of Domestic Disorderly Conduct. The arrest was the result of a disturbance at the aforementioned address. Swider awaited arraignment.


STOLEN VEHICLE

At 6:34 p.m. on Aug. 5, Cranston Police arrested Karissa Dube, 20, of 569 Smithfield Road, North Providence, on charges of Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle and an Outstanding Arrest and Affidavit Warrant out of Pawtucket. The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop in the area of Reservoir Avenue and High School Avenue. Dube was arraigned and transferred to the Pawtucket Police Department’s custody.


WILLFUL TRESPASS

At 1:25 p.m. on Aug. 5, Cranston Police arrested Nathan Oum, 19, of 15 Harmon Ave., Cranston, on charges of Willful Trespass as a result of a trespassing call at 74 Standish Ave. Oum awaited arraignment by the Justice of the Peace.

At 11:26 a.m. on Aug. 5, Cranston Police arrested Emoni Chaney, 24, of 40 Mary Ave., East Providence, on charges of Shoplifting as a result of a shoplifting call at Walmart on Plainfield Pike. Chaney was transferred to Third District Court for arraignment.


RECKLESS DRIVING

At 6:52 p.m. on Aug. 4, Cranston Police arrested Brian D. Haibon, 37, of 972 Reservoir Ave., Cranston, on charges of Reckless Driving (once count), Obstructing A Police Officer in Execution of Duty (one count), Driving Without/ Expired License (one count), and DUI – BAC .15/Greater (first offense. Haibon was also cited with multiple traffic offenses. The arrest was a result of an accident with an unattended vehicle where Habion fled on foot. Haibon was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace and released.


WARRANT

At 7:59 p.m. on Aug. 8, Cranston Police arrested Kevin Nunez, 22, of 501 Public St., Providence, on a Third District Court Bench Warrant. The arrest was a result of a motor vehicle stop on Wheeler Avenue. Nunez was processed and transported to the ACI.

At 5:01 p.m. on Aug. 7, Cranston Police arrested Eliezer Albino, 36, of 22 Wood St., Apt. 1, Providence, on two Third District Court Bench Warrants. The arrest was the result of a traffic stop at the intersection of Cranston and Field Streets. Albino was turned over to the ACI.

At 9:21 a.m. on Aug. 3, Cranston Police arrested John R. Hammond, 46, of 225 Bellevue Ave., Providence, on a North Kingstown Police Department Warrant as a result of a warrant pick-up at 30 Howard Ave. Hammond was transferred to the North Kingstown Police Department.

At 4:09 p.m. on Aug. 2, Cranston Police arrested Ernest E. Bates, 31, of 89 America St., Providence, on a Sixth District Court Bench Warrant as a result of a traffic stop at Cranston and Bain Streets. Bates was transferred to the ACI.

At 1:21 p.m. on Aug. 1, Cranston Police arrested George Chipman, 41, of 1056 West Shore Road, Warwick, on an extraditable Warrant of Arrest on Affidavit from Connecticut Department of Corrections Parole Division and for Fugitive from Justice. The arrest was the result of Connecticut Department of Corrections contacting Det. Lt. Brooks. Chipman awaited Bail Commissioner.


SHOPLIFTING

At 7:58 p.m. on Aug. 2, Cranston Police arrested Laura Jean Baumgardner, 32, of 27 Pleasant St., Apt. 2, Providence, on charges of Shoplifting as a result of a shoplifting call at Stop & Shop on Garfield Avenue. Baumgardner awaited arraignment.


DUI

At 3:35 a.m. on Aug. 7, Cranston Police arrested Albert Perez, 32, of 32 Hillwood St., Warwick, on charges of DUI – BAC unknown (second offense), Breathalyzer Refusal (second offense). The arrest was the result of an accident investigation at 247 Garfield Ave. Perez was issued a release to appear.

At 7:21 p.m. on July 31, Cranston Police arrested Brayan Morales, 42, of 47 Second Ave., Cranston, on charges of DUI – BAC unknown (first offense), Breathalyzer Refusal and Reckless Driving. The arrest was the result of an accident investigation at 42 Third Ave. Morales was arraigned and released.


BURGLARY

On Aug. 2, the Statewide Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Cranston’s Kyle Bento, 49, with Burglary (one count), Assault with a Deadly Weapon (two counts) and Breaking and Entering (seven counts).

The alleged acts occurred in the city of Providence on diverse dates between Nov. 26, 2021, and January 28, 2022. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation. The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on Aug. 24, in Providence County Superior Court.


SHOOTING

On Aug. 4, Cranston Police arrested Micheal McCombs, 33, of 60 Chestnut Hill Ave., Cranston. McCombs was taken into custody following the investigation of an incident that began in the City of Providence outside of 153 Prudence Ave. and ended in gunfire adjacent to the Ocean State Market on Dyer Avenue in Cranston.

Shortly after 9 p.m. on Aug. 3, members of the Cranston Police Department’s Uniform Patrol Division were dispatched to the Ocean State Market for the initial report of a stabbing. While officers were enroute, they learned the victim was shot as well. When officers arrived, they located the victim bleeding profusely on the curb who had sustained a gunshot along with a serious stab wound. The victim was immediately given emergency medical services by the responding officers and transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

Cranston and Providence Police worked collectively to determine that this incident stemmed from an earlier disturbance in the City of Providence between individuals all known to each other. Over the course of the disturbance, it continued over the city line into the City of Cranston where the victim was ultimately shot by the arrestee Micheal McCombs. The victim’s injuries are non-life threatening, and he is expected to recover. Detectives were able to recover the firearm that had been discarded and a full confession was obtained relative to the shooting.

As a result of this investigation, McCombs was subsequently charged with the following violations of Rhode Island General Laws: Felony Assault with a Dangerous Weapon or Substance, Discharge of a Firearm while Committing a Crime of Violence and License or Permit Required for Carrying a Pistol. McCombs was arraigned this morning in Third District Court. He was given $50,000 bail, with surety and ordered to surrender all firearms.
