To the Editor;
City Council President Steve McAllister is worried about climate change. He wants us to be prepared for events that may or may not occur in the future.(“Now more than ever we must consider impact of climate change”, Nov. 16).
I’m more concerned about the harmful impact reckless measures taken “to combat and protect against climate change” are having on our quality of life right now. For example, everything we buy has become more expensive because of foolish climate change policies.
Our economy runs on diesel. The crusade against fossil fuels that is motivated by climate change fanaticism has driven up the cost of diesel fuel. That means we must pay more for food, clothing, and anything else that is transported by truck.
Even worse is the threat posed to our energy security by climate change craziness. The push for electricity that is generated by expensive, inefficient, and unreliable sources such as wind and solar has already resulted in rolling blackouts in certain states.
If left unchecked, these bad policies could leave some members of our community shivering in the dark this winter. I urge Mr. McAllister to “weigh the financial costs” of that outcome.
