A private school teacher and Cranston pizza shop owner is facing sexual assault charges.
Lee Mogavero, 46, of 9 Paquin Drive in Barrington, was arrested Nov. 4 at his establishment, PieZoni’s on Sockanosset Cross Road, and charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault. He was arraigned the same day in Third District Court.
According to police, detectives assigned to the Cranston Police Department’s Special Victims Unity received separate complaints from two females – one a juvenile, the other an adult – on Nov. 3. Both are employees of the pizza restaurant, police said, and are also current or former students at St. Mary Bay View Academy in East Providence, where Mogavero teaches high school. The school said Mogavero has been placed on leave.
The complaints allege that Mogavero “engaged in a pattern of behavior of sexual harassment and inappropriate touching” at the restaurant over a period of several months, police said.
