Radio Beacon: Steve Stycos, Democratic candidate for Cranston mayor

Posted

Democratic Citywide Councilman Steve Stycos has two decades of experience in elected office, having spent 10 years on the School Committee before winning the council's Ward 1 seat.

Running for mayor, he says, hasn't been a longtime goal. But his finish atop the citywide field in 2018 "gave me a little nudge from the public" - particularly given his desire to continue making an impact locally despite being term-limited from the council. He faces Maria Bucci and Adam Carbone in the Sept. 8 primary.

"This is an opportunity for me to continue in city government ... I have some idea of how to get things done, and I also know that you have to be in it for the long haul," he says.
