City Wide Councilwoman Nicole Renzulli announced on Jan. 4 her bid for re-election to the Cranston City Council. A mother and youth athletics coach, Renzulli was previously elected to the City Council in November 2020.

“It has been an honor to serve Cranston residents over the past year,” said Councilwoman Renzulli. “I’m proud of what we have been able to accomplish together during my short time in office, but I also believe there is much more work that needs to be done, which is why I am excited to announce that I will be running for re-election. I’m nowhere near finished.”

“I want to help Cranston businesses recover economically from the pandemic, maintain the City’s strong financial position and top credit rating, upgrade technology in many of our departments, concentrate on the daily needs of residents, and continue to make Cranston a place we are all proud to call home,” Renzulli said.

Renzulli has proven to be a strong advocate for Cranston taxpayers, business owners and students. During the budget process, she worked with Mayor Ken Hopkins to help deliver a balanced budget that held the line on taxes and controlled spending. She has also continued her work with many local nonprofits and Cranston athletics programs.

Mayor Kenneth J. Hopkins announced his endorsement of Renzulli. “Throughout our time in office, Nicole has been an incredible partner on the City Council. Nicole represents a new generation of leadership in our City. I know that Nicole works tirelessly to serve all Cranston residents, and that’s why I am proud to support her for re-election.”

As a working mother with school-aged children, Renzulli is passionate about helping others and solving constituent issues. She continually uses her unique experience and viewpoint to ensure that Cranston remains an outstanding community for many years to come.

Her priorities on the City Council have included maintaining the City’s sound infrastructure and fiscal integrity, while effectively delivering quality, inclusive public education, superior public safety, suitable housing and enhancing Cranston’s special quality of life.

Renzulli’s focus on constituent services has not gone unnoticed, with former Council member and Cranston business owner Ed Brady noting, “When constituents ask for help or want to provide input, Nicole always answers the phone. She listens and engages with kindness and dedication.”

“The pandemic has created uncertainty and economic worries for so many,” said Renzulli. “As a single mother of three, I understand the day-to-day challenges of navigating through these uncertain times. I believe that now more than ever, we need leaders who show compassion, understanding, and innovation to see us through to better days. That is why I am proud to announce my re-election to the Cranston City Council.”

Councilwoman Renzulli currently serves on the Finance, Public Works, and Claims Committees, is Vice-Chair of the Ordinance Committee, and Chairwoman of the Safety Services & Licensing Committee.

She will also Chair a Traffic Commission and was recently appointed by the Mayor to serve on the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee.

She is a lifelong Cranston resident, graduating from Cranston High School West in 2002, later graduating from Florida State University with a Bachelor’s in English and Communications in 2005. A mother of three, winning track/cross country coach at Western Hills Middle School and Cranston High School West, and Fundraising Director for CLCF Sports, Councilwoman Renzulli is focused on Cranston’s kids and Cranston’s future.

She is seeking re-election as a Republican.
